The goal of The Arts facet is to increase and expand art activity in Harlem. Metro-Manhattan (NY) Links create and support art-related educational opportunities for minority youth as well as present and support performances by youth and accomplished professional artists.

Classics Through the Ages

For more than a decade Metro-Manhattan (NY) Links have participated in the national signature program “Classics Through the Ages” with artistic partner, “The Millennium Dance Company.”

The Classics Through the Ages program focuses on increasing the interest, knowledge and participation of youth of African descent in the classical arts. This exciting initiative seeks to afford exemplary student artists opportunities to hone their talents and skills, and earn recognition and support for their educational and career pursuits.

Classics Through the Ages is an innovative dual mentoring program where Metro-Manhattan (NY) Links work with The Millennium Dance Company to mentor dancers, who in turn mentor their peers. Metro-Manhattan (NY) Links provide further support by facilitating opportunities for cultural enrichment and supporting artistic performances.
